Libby Chisholm Fearnley
describes herself as an “advocate for fashion industry transformation.” Libby began her career as a womenswear designer for corporate-sized brands and retailers. She left after a decade to start a family and, through parenting and travel, became interested in sustainability. She studied sustainable design at Fashion Institute of Technology in the evenings and then partnered with Marci Zaroff on researching and writing their book, adDRESSing Change: Reweaving the Global Fashion and Textiles Trade. Libby contributes content to industry news outlets, trade journals, and blogs. She recently started as an instructor in FIT’s Sustainable Design certificate program. She also consults with brands to help motivate and empower teams with timely tools to help fuel an industry transformation. Her goal is to create a ripple effect of optimism— the fashion industry can and must transcend the superficial. Her passion extends to her home life: she works hard to help her three boys understand and respect where their clothes come from.
